OCTOBER GOINGS-ON

This October, choose from a few of these fun — and spooky! — events happening around Pensacola.

PENSACOLA INTERSTATE FAIR Oct. 18–28 Pensacola Interstate Fairgrounds Head to the fairgrounds this month during the Interstate Fair, and you’re in for a show, whether it’s live music frommain stage act Sugar Ray, animal petting areas, or any of the other classic fair activities you and the family can partake in. This is a huge event for the Pensacola community and supports our local economy while providing over 300 jobs. Join in the fun, and be part of a community event.

29TH ANNUAL PEANUT FESTIVAL Oct. 6–7, Gabbert Farm, Jay The Annual Peanut Festival is an enjoyable, family-friendly event held in Jay, Florida. Held in memory of Melissa Gabbert, who passed away at 19 from cancer, this is an event from the heart, made possible thanks to the hard work and love of Melissa’s family and friends. Live entertainment, kids’ activities, and of course, peanuts in many forms make this a fun event for all. The festival has free admission and free parking.

WALKING CEMETERY TOUR Now through Nov. 10 St. John’s Historic Cemetery, Pensacola Spooky spirits and a dose of Pensacola history come together during this walking tour of St. John’s Historic Cemetery, which is the oldest cemetery in Pensacola. Learn about the history — sometimes chilling, sometimes humorous, always interesting — during a dusk tour of the cemetery with Go Retro guide Wesley Odem. What better way to get in the Halloween spirit?

BARKTOBERFEST Oct. 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Community Maritime Park This event is held for one of the best causes out there — a no-kill shelter that unites homeless pets with loving homes. There will be games, costumes, adoption opportunities, and more fun.

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS WALK Oct. 27 at 8 a.m. Seville Quarter
