Reminders For Conducting The Mock Trial
Do not interrupt the trial for minor errors. If something unusual happens during the trial, let it go until the debriefing, when you can discuss it in context. Allocate time for a debriefing after the trial. This is a critical part of the mock trial process, where students reflect on what occurred, evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of each side, and discuss the broader implications of the trial system. If a guest resource person participated, the debriefing is an excellent opportunity to learn from their insights.
