THE BEST OFF-ROAD ADVENTURES For those looking to pick up some speed and dust, ambitious mountain bikers can expect an epic ride with direct access to the Island’s rugged interior with stops along the beautiful shoreline. Before you ride through the Island’s interior, simply purchase a $35 bike pass from the Catalina Island Conservancy Trailhead in Avalon. Didn’t bring a bike? Worry not as there are numerous places in Avalon you can rent from. Feel the breeze as you look out onto the Island’s pristine wilderness aboard an open-air off-road vehicle for the ultimate two to three-hour backcountry expedition. Get a feel for Catalina’s incredible geography as you ride through canyons and along the coastline where you will get the best photo ops to capture the amazing ocean views of both sides of the Island. Keep an eye out to spot a bison, Bald Eagle or Catalina Island Fox or two.
