EXHIBITIONS SEPTEMBER 9, 2023 – FALL 2024 CABINET OF CURIOSITIES: 70 OBJECTS FOR 70 YEARS

MAY CINCO DE MAYO CELEBRATION— AN ANNUAL COMMUNITY CELEBRATION In honor of Cinco de Mayo features live music, local food vendors, cultural dance performances, and more!

Deep within the hidden vaults is a collection of objects so rare and absurd, that many have never been exhibited publicly. To celebrate the museum’s 70th anniversary, visitors are allowed to pull back the curtain and peek into its Cabinet of Curiosities! OCTOBER 7, 2023 – MAY 19, 2024 TIME CHANGES ALL ODDS: PHOTOGRAPHY & CATALINA Time Changes All Odds explores how photography has contributed to the identity of the Island. Through images of the Island’s natural beauty, snapshots of activities, documents of architecture, and moments from the daily lives of the Island’s inhabitants, one can see the changes and similarities over time. MARCH 23, 2024 – AUGUST 4, 2024 ANN WEBER: 26 MILES Using reclaimed cardboard and unfettered imagination, Ann Weber employs wit and emotion to give life to her totemic sculptures. Her organic works reveal tender explorations into the relationships between memory and the passage of time, the vulnerability and resiliency of nature, and the potential inherent in the human spirit. JUNE 8, 2024 – SEPTEMBER 8, 2024 SARAH KAIZAR: RARE AIR RARE AIR features original gouache and ink artwork of Philadelphia-based illustrator and designer Sarah Kaizar. The exhibition connects audiences of all ages to the diversity of our ecosystems and the extraordinary winged creatures that populate it. ONGOING EVENTS FIRST FRIDAYS AT THE MUSEUM On the First Friday of the month, Catalina Museum hosts free community events to provide an enriching program and serve as gathering place to come together with open galleries and a cash bar.

AUGUST DINNER AND A MOVIE WITH ELVIS

Join the museum for an evening with dinner, a performance by the best Elvis impersonator in Southern CA, and an Elvis-related film screened in the museum’s outdoor amphitheater. OCTOBER OKTOBERFEST CELEBRATION Dust off your lederhosen and dirndls to celebrate Bavarian culture with live music, the singing of the Catalina Schnitzelbank, brats with all of the fixings, German beer, an art project for the kids, and more!

NOVEMBER DIA DE LOS MUERTOS FAMILY FESTIVAL

On November 1, join for an annual celebration to honor loved ones who are no longer with us. This free event features live music, cultural dance performances, a tequila tasting, local food vendors, art projects for the kids, ofrenda and art contest, and more!

DECEMBER HOLIDAY CONCERT

Join the museum mid-December for a free holiday performance by the Loyola Marymount University Choir. The evening also offers an opportunity to explore the museum’s galleries.
