CORK HELLHOUNDS
CORK REBELS FC
Cork Hellhounds RFC is an LGBT-inclusive rugby club, launched in 2020. They offer a men’s rugby union (AKA contact rugby) team, and a mixed-gender tag rugby team during the summer months. They train weekly in Cork City, and total beginners are more than welcome. For more information, email hello@corkhellhounds.ie or visit @corkhellhounds on Instagram.
Cork Rebels FC are a LGBTQI+ football club that provide the LBGT+ community in Cork with the opportunity to play and learn soccer in a positive, friendly environment. Our club does not discriminate on the basis of age, race, sex, color, religion, nationality, physical ability, gender identity, or sexual orientation. Our players are both competitive and recreational. Cork Rebels FC players have also participated in the GFSN (Gay Football Supporters Network) get-togethers in the UK with a visit to London in 2022 and a trip to Glasgow in 2023. Our Saturday kickabout is open to everyone. We encourage you to come play, get to know the club and enjoy a fun game of football. We know how tough it can be to join a club for the first time so we make sure to welcome every new member. You never have to feel like you don’t belong here. We encourage all members to be mindful of new players. A wind down takes place after each Saturday kickabout where we gather off the pitch over a beverage or two and we have a relaxed catch up with our team mates. Our league team is geared toward a competitive level of play and participates in weekly training sessions in preparation for the local street leagues in Cork plus national and international events. Our competitive team has also taken part in the GSFN cup. In addition to football, we also organise social events off the pitch which helps with team building and include activities such as footgolf, games nights in The Gay Project or simply meeting for a pint. The Cork Rebels are more than just a football team, we are a community. Together with our friends at the Gay Project, LINC, Cork Hellhounds, Cork Racketeers and the Frontrunners we are proud to be a part of the Cork LGBTQI+ community. Whatever the skill, whatever the age and whatever club you support– there is something for everyone at the Cork Rebels FC! Email us at corkrebelsfc@gmail.com
LINC RACKET REBELS
FRONTRUNNERS CORK In 2022, the Cork Frontrunners became Ireland’s second-largest LGTB+ sports club and the largest outside Dublin. The club’s core ethos is to be a friendly, safe, and inclusive space for all abilities and experiences. Each club member understands that sometimes coming to a training session for the first time can be daunting. Therefore, it’s essential to make all new members feel equally valued and welcome. We do a few things to help weave this ethos into the club’s social fabric, which has helped us grow our numbers. First, we truly cater for ALL levels. In addition to our usual runs, we created a Briskwalkers group and a Couch to 5k series. These groups have acted as a feeder into the club. Whether you want to crawl, walk or run - you are welcome here. Secondly, we work our runs around social venues to grab coffee/tea or food after a training session. Thirdly, we started monthly track sessions run by an athletics coach to cater for members who wanted to focus on summer races. Last but far from least, we have regular events where we let our hair down. Sometimes this is abroad; sometimes, this is at home. Work hard, play hard! We also have created an annual Pride Run, a fun run in the city during Cork Pride.
Racket Rebels was born in 2005, not only for exercise purposes, but to provide a safe space where women from all different backgrounds could come together for chats and support. Whilst we nourish the competitive spirit, we cater for players of all abilities and we play in a relaxed, friendly and encouraging atmosphere. We hold regular social events, including summer BBQs, Christmas events and a women-only competition every year as part of the Cork Women’s Weekend. We are proud of our many achievements over the past 18 years. We have competed in International competitions representing Ireland in badminton and been honoured with invitations from the Lord Mayor and Michael D Higgins for a reception at Áras an Uachtaráin. We have won medals at the legendary Gay Games in Cologne in 2010, Paris in 2018, the Euro Games in Rome in 2019, as well as local tournaments and competitions. We have recently moved location and are now based in Cork at the James Kenneally Sports Hall Hollyhill, where we share the hall with Cork Racketeers from the Gay Project on Tuesdays from 8pm – 10pm, providing an inclusive LGBTQI+ space. New members of all levels are very welcome to come join us! For more information please contact info@linc.ie Wishing everyone a Happy Pride from Racket Rebels!
