About The Gay Bible This book came about when a childhood friend who I hadn’t seen in a few years messaged me out of the blue and came out to me. It was the first time she had come out to anybody. I said something along the lines of ‘spill the tea,’ as in tell me everything! She replied with ‘how many sugars?’ It was then that I realised that she had not been given the chance to be made aware of any LGBT+ terms. Like me, she grew up in small town Roscarbery and was very sheltered from the community. I started writing a list of queer terms for her and somehow it ended up being published into a 230 page book! The book was released on the 30th of September 2022, with a launch and book signing in LINC in Cork. It has now sold out multiple times on Amazon and is on the shelf in several Cork bookstores, including Waterstones and The Works in Wilton. My wife Esther, was a massive help in supporting me to make the dream of a published book a reality. I describe this book as a guide to queer terminology. It includes slurs and what to say and what not to say. I decided to leave the slurs in because, as well as knowing the different good terms, it is important to see and understand the bad terms in LGBT+ history. I also share LGBT+ terminology on my monthly radio show, The Gay Agenda. People can make mistakes and are often too scared to say anything at all for fear of saying the wrong thing. This book can help people navigate what should be said and what shouldn’t. I may only be one person, but creating these small acts of defiance will lead to acceptance You can get in touch with Sinead for book signings on sineadh@live.com
