A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 7
What a busy end of term Year 7 are having! Our students have completed their Lepra fundraising, acted as tour guides to show parents around the school, participated in a Zumba dance workout, enjoyed the school sports day and dressed as their favourite book characters. I hope that our students have enjoyed the varied activities that have come their way. Congratulations to Eleanor S in 7POR who, with the help of The Amber Trust charity, has achieved a Distinction in her London College of Music - Musical Theatre Grade 2 singing exam - scoring no less than 96 out of a possible 100! This is an incredible achievement, well done Eleanor. Well done to Fran, Anna and Jasmine who were all involved in a Football tournament last weekend, playing for Teddington Panthers. The tournament took place at the Excel Club in Walton where they played 4 matches in the heats and were unbeaten, progressing into the semi-finals. They went on to win both the semi-final and final, being crowned overall winners in the top group for their age! Tuesday saw the return of our annual Sports Day event and the weather did not disappoint! We had a number of events take place all day with field events like long jump, high jump and javelin taking place in the morning and our track events, including the 100m sprint, in the afternoon. I would like to say a massive well done to all Year 7 students who participated in events, you all did a brilliant job! On Thursday best selling local YA author Sue Wallman came in to talk to Year 7 about her writing and inspiration for her stories. Students came into school looking great dressed up as their favourite book characters. Sue judged the character dress up entries and awarded prizes to the winners. Well done to Charlie M and Aiko W for coming joint first with their Mad Hatter costumes. When our Year 7 students move into Year 8 they get the opportunity to take an extra lesson in languages, computing or dance. Information will have been shared about this and the students had an assembly today with presentations from staff about each option choice. Please discuss this with your child to help them make an informed choice. On Wednesday 5 July, Year 7 have a trip to Kingston Cinema in the morning followed by a picnic in the afternoon. More information will be shared about this but please ensure that your child has a card / pass that enables them to use the train. Please note that there is planned industrial action next Wednesday 5 July and Friday 7 July. Please check previous letters to see how each year group will be affected on these days.
