It is there, as long as humans are involved there is internal politics. How do you deal with it? 5 suggestions. 1. Communicate accurately and honestly. 2. Don’t play into the “office” politics, if you’re the leader of the organization then act like it. 3. Follow the rules. 4. Be knowledgeable of the organization. 5. Remember no one wins when everyone is unhappy.
What do we need to know when dealing with external politics, at least from a regulator management approach. 1. We cant make everyone happy. 2. We MUST follow the rules. 3. We have to have our integrity in tact all of the time. 4. Speak truthfully and directly. 5. Know and understand the governing documents. 6. Be prepared to be “attacked” professionally and personally when you make a decision that may affect other people in positions of authority. 7. Do the right thing!
