SLEEPER PICK!!!!! (Well he better not be anymore!) It might be easy for a young calf like this to fall through the cracks in a sale with a lot of older bulls. I’m telling you, circle this Lot 30 twice and don’t forget about him. His dam is one of the most picture perfect females I’ve ever seen. Great phenotype and a great udder. N5242 is a stud in the making!

Over the years, we have started to have fewer and fewer April born bull calves in the offering. Well folks, Lot 34 is our only one this year. So that alone should prove to you that I think he is pretty special. A full sibling last year sold to Ken Chambers in North Carolina and Ken absolutely loves her physical make up. If you don’t turn out until mid summer, this guy would be a great insurance policy!!
I vividly remember sorting through calves shortly after we weaned. There was this young calf that kept catching my eye. He had a flashy appeal and a look of dominance that you usually don’t get from a young calf. N5252 has continued to impress and set higher bars. Top 1% of the breed for growth and has the maternal qualifications to back it up! Should be a crowd favorite in the pens on March 2!

GENOMIC ENHANCED EPD’s

The American Gelbvieh Association first incorporated genomic information into the summer 2013 genetic evaluation. Dr. Dorian Garrick of Iowa State University reported that a Gelbvieh/Balancer® specific panel of DNA markers can be used to develop genomic- enhanced EPDs (GE EPDs). The combination of database information and genomic data resulted in EPDs that roll the accuracy of a DNA test and the information of individual, pedigree, and progeny performance into one, easy to use number. USING GE EPD’s CAN HELP YOUR OPERATION IN 3 WAYS: 1. Increasing accuracy 2. Reducing risk by reducing possible change 3. Increasing rate of genetic change

I am certainly not a math major. I was honestly horrible at Algebra. But the one formula that I have figured out to be 100% true, is that more frame = more money in your pocket! An Equalizer female crossed with Unrivaled will add more pounds of weaning weight to a set of calves quicker then the next time Trump tweets something!

This N5264 calf is the very reason we give our bulls plenty of time to develop before making a final decision on whether or not they should be breeders. This calf might have shown me the most impressive development progression I seen all year. Since weaning, he has become a powerhouse hull with a huge mid section. Super great young Bull!
