Henry County Sheriff's Office Mourns Loss of K9 Quobra and Welcomes K9 Nero
The Henry County Sheriff's Office bid farewell to Deputy Sheriff K9 Quobra, who passed away on January 15, 2023. Deputy Quobra, a Giant Schnauzer donated by generous Henry County resident, Chuck Rawlings in 2020, served faithfully alongside Deputy Suray Smith, contributing significantly to law enforcement efforts in the county. "K9 Quobra was more than just a colleague; she was a beloved member of our law enforcement family," expressed Depuy Smith. "Her loyalty, skill, and dedication will forever be remembered." Deputy Quobra, trained in narcotics and contraband detection, was primarily assigned to work in the jail, where her keen sense of smell and unwavering focus aided in maintaining security and order within the facility. A highlight of Deputy Quobra's service was her remarkable ability to detect a gun during a domestic violence call, swiftly neutralizing a potential threat and safeguarding lives. In September 2023, the unit welcomed Deputy Sheriff K9 Nero, a Belgian Malinois partnered with Deputy Smith. Trained in detecting narcotics and contraband, K9 Nero brings fresh capabilities to the team. "The addition of K9 Nero enhances our ability to address the dynamic challenges we face, particularly within the Henry County jail," expressed Deputy Smith. "We remain committed to upholding the highest standards of service in our duty to protect and serve."
