Excellence in NADOA By Liz Fajen I was fortunate this year to win a scholarship to the NADOA Conference. I am not a beginner at NADOA, I have been a member for 37 years and attended many conferences. NADOA never fails to provide excellence in their educational events and this year was no exception. Since I began attending, the first thing that has always impressed me is that all of the classes are full. This means that the topics are excellent and on point with the challenges Division Order Analysts face today. It also means that companies recognize the educational value of the event and are willing to spend dollars on sending their Analysts to the conference. If you have not been fortunate enough to attend this event, make an effort to attend next year. You will not be disappointed and the value you receive far exceeds the price of the conference. Some of the classes that I attended included LNG Exports by Greg Whiting, Utica & Marcellus Shale Panel by Tim McKeen, Jason Lucas and Andy Graham, Texas Trusts, Wills and Probate by Kacie Bevers, Money Talks: Post Production Cost Deductions after Burlington Resources by Andy Graham, Correction Deeds and Current Texas Property Code Issues by Charles Sartain, and A Division Order Analyst’s Guide
to the Operating Agreement by Andy Graham. They all contained excellent information and I learned something in each one. You never know everything in this business and you should take every opportunity to stretch your knowledge. I have found that I typically take classes where I have little experience, even if I can’t presently use it in my job. Right around the corner is a new opportunity where the information you gained will be of value. One of the most valuable jewels that you will obtain at the NADOA Conference is networking with other professionals. I have been exceedingly fortunate to be involved with NADOA in many conferences and events and have made invaluable friendships. I have invested personally in my friends and value them as people as well as business associates. This connection is more precious than you can imagine. It is great to be able to call someone you know at a company if you need information, but it is even better to talk to a friend a catch up on life. There are many ups and downs in this business. The experience and friendships you gain will stay with you for the rest of your life. Participate, Gain Excellence and Make a New Friend! NADOA has opportunities for all!!
