T HE K I N G ’S B U S I N E S S ship (Acts 10:25, 26; 14:11-15; Rev. 19: 10; 22:8, 9). [14] He is honored and glorified as God (John 5:23; 17:5; II Peter 3:18). [15] He is prayed to as God (Acts 7: 69, 60; .9:14; I Cor. 1:2; II Cor. 12:8, 9). [16] He is God manifested in the flesh (John 1:1, 14; I Tim. 3:16; Phil. 2:5-8; Rom. 8:3). [17] He is the Son of God in a unique sense,(John 1:14, 18; 3:16, 18; I John 4:9). The word translated “only begot ten” in these verses means “only, single of its kind” and is used to designate the only child in a family. He is called the Son of God forty-two times. [18] The fullness of the Godhead dwells bodily in Him (Col. 1:19; 2:9). [19] He is the Head of all principality and power (Col. 2:10; Eph. 1:21). [20] He exercised divine authority and power (John 2:14-16, 19; Matt. 8:3; 9:6; Mark 4:39; Luke 7:14, 15; Rev. 1:18). He is the “Power of God” (I Cor. 1:24). afe af& THE INTERMEDIATE STATE The doctrine that is being put forth to day which teaches that after death the soul sleeps, is not only unscriptural but most dangerous, and the child of God needs to know his Book (the Bible). God has, with this great subject as many oth ers, revealed only a few passages in His Word, but what He has revealed ip very clear and sufficient to establish the Truth in our minds and hearts. “Unclothed” (2 Cor. 5:4). “In Para dise” (Luke 23:43). “With Christ” (Phil. 1:23). “At home with thé Lord” (2 Cor. 5:8, R. V.). 1. A disembodied state described by the words “unclothed” or “absent from the body” (2 Cor. 5:4-8). 2. A state of real existence. Though dead to the world and its activities, the departed are not dead to God, “for all live unto Him” (Luke 20:38). 3. A conscious state. Not one of sleep or insensibility. “He is comforted, and

thou art tormented” (Luke 16:25). 4. A state of recognition and remem brance. “Father Abraham,” “Send Laz arus,”-“Son, Remember” (Luke 16:24, 25). 5. A state at once entered upon. “To day shalt thou be with Me in Paradise” (Luke 23:43). “The rich man died and was buried, and in hell (hades) he lifted up his eyes, being in torments” (Luke 16:22, 23). 6. A state of being with Christ (for the believer). “To be present with the Lord” (2 Cor. 5:8). 7. A state of blessing for the believer. “To depart and be with Christ, which is far better” (Phil. 1:23). Of suffering for the ungodly. “I am tormented ’in this flame” (Luke 16:24). 8. A state of waiting for resurrection, glory. “Them that sleep in Jesus will God bring with Him” (1 Thess. 4:.14), or for resurrection judgment, “Whosoever was not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire” (Rev. 20:15). 9. An irrevocable state. The condi tion of the departed, though not final in degree, is fixed as to character. “Be tween us and you there is a great gulf fixed” (Luke 16:26). Beloved, keep away from all such teach ing, avoid it as you would poison. When you lay the body of your beloved one away, remember the spirit lives, and if they have Salvation through the Blood of Jesus, they are in a place of conscious joy NOW. Paul did not say, it is better to go to sleep and be buried, but “For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. But if I live in the flesh this is the fruit of my labor; yet what I shall choose I wot not. For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ, which is far better” (Phil. 1:21-23). H. S.
