This has been demonstrated re peatedly, and we have new there they see the mighty working of God and they feel their faith renewed. They see the Gospel opening up dark ened hearts and in a most mysterious way leading men and women front dark ness into light, from the bondage of heathenism into the glorious liberty of the sons of God; they see men and wo men turn their backs on their old sin ful habits and begin to live clean, vic torious lives; "and, perhaps most remark able of all, they see men and women who proofs of it in the winter vacation re cently ended. How we do praise God for this combination of thorough class-room training in the local school and practical working out of the principles and meth ods on the field into which He has led us. had always lived for self alone, now pos sessed by some power that makes them eager to help others and to lead them to the same Saviour who has done so much for them. And seeing all these things the men gain a fresh confidence in the Gospel, and a hèw realization of the glorious privilege and power God has committed to them in calling them to be His messengers; and so they begin the new term’s work with a joy and enthu siasm that make our hearts glad and inspire us with songs of praise. This year we divided the students into four bands and sent them out into thé fields of missions desiring their help.
of-door life, the brisk walks taken in go ing from home to home, the change of food, the physical weariness and the re freshing sleep that follows, all tend to build up the men and they come back to us in good trim for a hard term’s work, instead of being worn out by the idle frivolities of the old style “Vaca tion.” VACATION ENTHUSIASM But of far greater value than the phys ical advantages, which we would by no means, minimize, are the wonderful spir itual advantages 'which come to the men through this vacation evangelism.
