prospects for the conversion of the heathen. He answered, “As bright as the promises of God.”

Go Where the People Are At the Salvation Army Congress' in London, General Booth told of a sym pathetic person who said to a young woman, a Captain in the General’s forces, that he admired their work, but disliked their drum. “Sir,” said she, in reply, “I don’t like your bell.” “What!” said.he, “Not like the bell that says ‘Come to the house of God’?” “The bell may say ‘Come’!” said she, “but the drum says, ‘Fetch ’em’!” A Christian worker, with Bibles and tracts to sell and give away, rented a booth at a circus. A circus girl bought a Bible and the reading of it resulted in her salvation. Two young Christian men stood watch ing the crowd dance, at a carnival among the Mountain Whites. After a few mo ments one of them asked the master of ceremonies what he would rent his plat form for an hour for. They paid the price, the dance ceased and they sang and preached and gave out gospel tracts for an hour. Golden Text Illustrations “The following prayer was found in the desk of a schoolboy after his death: ‘O God! give me courage to fear none but Thee’!” Lord Palmerston was once speaking to a famous French statesman on the comparative merits of European sold iers. “French soldiers are the bravest in the world,” claimed the Frenchman. “Ours are not the bravest in the world,” replied Lord Palmerston,” but they are brave for a quarter of an hour longer than any others.” Christians need this sticktoitiveness of courage in witness ing. Judson preached to the Buddhists in Burmah for six years without a convert. Every first Sunday he and his devoted wife would celebrate the Lord’s Supper, and would say at the conclusion: “We are the church of Burmah.” Somebody wrote to Mr. Judson, after he had been there five years, to know what were the

Adventures of Paul and Barnabas. Acts 13:4-12, 44-49. Memory Verse. —“Go ye into all the world and preach the Gospel to the whole creation.” Mark 16:15. Approach. —I wonder if any of you know what an island BEGINNERS is? A little piece of AND PRIMARY land with water all Mabel L. Merrill around it. Yes, that is right, and we are going to have an island in our story, so I wanted you to be sure and know what it is. Now you remember we were going to tell each other how many chances we had to help some one this week. Charles is the first one to put up his hand. He helped an old lady carry a heavy basket from the store. That was fine, and we ought to always help old people and be kind to them. Helen stayed with baby brother while mother went across the street to help a sick lady. My, you have all been real helpers this week, and let us see each week how many ways we can help. Lesson Story.—We have such an in teresting story today about Paul and Barnabas, who are now real missionaries going about from one place to another telling people the good news about Jesus, and how He loved us so much that He died to save us from our sin. Now today they are in the city of Antioch, and it was made plain to Paul and Barnabas that God wanted them to give all their time to preach, so some other ministers and the people gathered together in the church, and laid their hands on the heads of Paul and Barnabas and prayed, set ting them apart for God’s work. Then they bade Paul and Barnabas good bye as they got into a ship and sailed away to "an island. They stopped in the chief city on the island and went into the
