Our Commitment to Equity and Inclusion Animal Protection New Mexico’s mission and work are rooted in the belief that all animals matter, both domestic and wild, familiar and unfamiliar. It is this acknowledgement of and respect for all of nature—with its diverse, complex, and often misunderstood value—that logically connects us to efforts that value the rich tapestry of people we serve, and with whom we work on a daily basis. Natural systems thrive in the midst of complexity and difference, and since we are part of nature, we believe this is true for our human experiences as well. With direct ties to so many varied and robust communities and cultures throughout the state of New Mexico, APNM considers it essential to its mission and success to foster an organizational environment that is centered on developing and maintaining a sense of belonging in the organization and its work. This commitment applies equally to internal and external relationships, resulting in positive changes for animals and the humans who care about them.
