Animal Protection New Mexico’s (APNM) mission—in sum—is systemic change for animals. To achieve systemic change, we dismantle harmful systems and build protective systems. For the foreseeable future, we need you to help us create a wide array of safety net services, programs, training, and laws to make New Mexico’s communities safer, healthier, and more humane for all. Further, New Mexico needs to have a centralized state agency with the authority and expertise to oversee, coordinate, and ensure implementation of essential services that benefit animals and entire communities. The consequences of currently scattered, siloed, and nonexistent animal programs and services don’t disappear—they shift to increased law enforcement and sheltering costs, and public safety and wellness risks. APNM is partnering with the North Central New Mexico Economic Development District to publish a comprehensive animal services assessment report in 2026 that will serve as a crucial baseline and roadmap for community safety and economic wellness, not just in the north central region but for the entire state. New Mexico deserves robust, state-supported systems and infrastructure that lead to economically viable, safe, healthy, and humane communities for everyone who calls the Land of Enchantment “home.” We’re leading on making that happen!
Animal Protection New Mexico: To advocate the rights of animals by effecting systemic change, resulting in the humane treatment of all animals.
Animal Protection Voters:
To actively promote and support animal-friendly legislation at the local, state, and federal levels; build an effective political voice for animal advocacy in New Mexico; and hold
New Mexico’s elected officials accountable on animal issues.
