HOW CAN THE J E W know C H R IS T This 75-year old mission was found ed to bring a Christian witness to the Jew. Every day in many cities in the U. S. and Israel a staff of dedicated workers make their way along the streets in business and residential areas to engage Jews in conversation concerning Messiah • Jesus. Children are gathered for club meetings and are won to the Saviour. Radio messages reach millions of Jews every week, in North America and Israel. The results — the Lord says, "Sow the seed . . . and I will give the in crease." Will you share in this seed sowing ministry? A copy of the A.M.F. by James O. Henry Chairman, History Department, Biola College may be the “break through” which will lead to the eventual control of one of the most feared diseases of mankind throughout the ages. Premier Khrushchev recently de scribed allegations of anti-semitism in the Soviet Union as “ a crude false hood, a malicious calumny on the Soviet people.” He made the state ment in a letter to Bertrand Russell, 90-year-old British communist philos opher, who has become one of his favorite sounding boards for issues of moment. The letter, in reply to one from the Briton, was relayed to him by the Russian embassy in London. Lord Russell had expressed concern over the execution in the Soviet Union of a number of persons, many of them Jews, charged with economic crimes. The Soviet leader, in his reply, said: “Among the persons punished by our courts for the so-called economic crimes, including those sentenced to capital punishment, there are Rus sians, Jews, Ukranians and Byelorus sians and people of other nationali ties.” Jews Form A World Council To Acclaim Gentile Rescuers European Christians who clandes tinely befriended Jews in Nazi-occu pied countries are to be brought out of obscurity to be acclaim'ed. Jews in free countries have formed a World Council to mark the deeds of right eous Gentiles. They have begun a campaign to obtain public recogni tion of heroism shown by men and women who defied the Nazis to help Jews. A provisional list of 175 names has been published. Branches of the World Jewish Congress are gathering information to complete the record. Governments of all the countries of Europe are to be asked to proclaim as “national heroes” their citizens who befriend Jews and to publish information about their deeds in school textbooks. Streets and public institutions in Israel are to be named in their honor. Medals and certificates are to be awarded at ceremonies in Europe or Israel. Khrushchev Denies Singling Out Jews

Russian Explains Defeat of Nixon Alexei Adzhubei, the son-in-law of Premier Khrushchev, suggested in an interview during his visit to Italy recently that Richard M. Nixon lost the 1960 Presidential election because he did not take some advice from Mr. Khrushchev. Mr. Adzhubei, chief edi tor of the Soviet Government news paper Izvestya, recalled at his inter view that Mr. Nixon and Mr. Khru shchev once had a discussion on co existence. He was referring to the capitalism-versus-Communism debate of 1959 in a model kitchen at a United States exhibit in Moscow. “Khru shchev said on that occasion that Nixon and all other political men ought to learn and understand what peaceful co-existence is,” Mr. Adzhu bei said. “Now, without wishing to enter into the affairs of other nations, we are able to affirm that Nixon was subsequently defeated because he did not want to follow the path that was indicated to him,” said Mr. Adzhubei. What Mr. Adzhubei apparently has not learned is the fact that Mr. Khru shchev cannot dictate to American candidates as he does to candidates behind the Iron Curtain. Science Reports Gain on Leprosy Scientists at the Communicable Dis ease Center in Atlanta, Georgia, re cently announced the first cultivation of human leprosy bacilli outside the human body. The accomplishment will make possible vaccine field trials which the U.S. Public Health Service hopes to begin shortly. The cultiva tion was first accomplished in 1957 by Dr. Charles C. Shepard and has been confirmed by him during further in vestigations in the last five years. The bacilli were cultivated in the rear foot pads of white mice. The site was chosen because these pads are the largest and coolest part of the animal and most closely approximated the 68° F. temperature considered ideal for experimental growth of the bacilli. Just as the ability to grow polio virus in culture marked the turning point that led to the development of polio vaccine, the achievement of Dr. Shepard in cultivating the leprosy bacillus outside of the human body
