AL MURDOCK LEGACY THE AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH TEXAS
Al, we are deeply grateful for your longstanding generosity toward UNT students through scholarships. Your contributions across many decades have made a profound difference in the lives of no less than 29 students in the College of Music and the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. Additionally, your support for athletics and alumni engagement at your alma mater has helped student-athletes achieve success. We invite you to consider a new philanthropic opportunity that will significantly enhance your UNT legacy. By creating three new endowed scholarships in areas that align with your specific passions — history, sociology and music — you will ensure sustained support for even more deserving students at the University of North Texas for generations to come.
Invest in the Murdock Legacy! Your dedication to supporting students across multiple disciplines has been instrumental in providing students with every opportunity to succeed. With your continued partnership and the strategic creation of endowments, you will amplify your impact exponentially. Endowed scholarships provide a perpetual source of funding, ensuring sustained support for students long into the future. To that end, we propose the following funding opportunities for your consideration.

MURDOCK FAMILY | Creating a meaningful connection between your sons and the University of North Texas through endowments established in your name can be a deeply enriching experience for your family. UNT will provide impact reports (annually or at another frequency you prefer) that include thank-you letters from scholarship recipients and invitations to meet these recipients. By making these steps a family tradition: • Your sons will feel deeply connected to UNT, seeing themselves as integral components of a legacy that extends well beyond their own lifetimes. • You will ensure that your impact at the University of North Texas continues to grow in perpetuity.
Thoughts from the professors...
“Watching students benefit now gives you an idea of what your legacy looks like in perpetuity.” Dr. John W. Richmond Professor and Dean College of Music
“When we receive the FAFSA ranked-need of our departmental scholarship applicants, it bothers me that so many of them have heavy financial need, and yet only one Murdock-Howze scholarship can be awarded. It would truly be the most wonderful development if we had the funds to award more need-based scholarships!” Dr. Donna Barnes Professor and Chair Department of Sociology
A Note of Sincere Thanks Al, your generosity and philanthropic spirit have already made a significant difference in the lives of UNT students. Converting to endowed scholarships will increase your impact exponentially, securing a legacy of support for students in need at the University of North Texas. Thank you for being a champion of UNT!
