LONDON
In honor of Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, St. Patrick’s Day is observed on March 17. Every year, people celebrate St. Patrick’s Day by donning their favorite green apparel, making four-leaf clovers, and drinking a lot of Guinness. LUCKY CLOVER
ONDON’S IRISH COMMUNITY heads to Trafalgar Square to celebrate their patron saint – and everyone’s invited. London became a sea of green on Sunday for the city’s annual St Patrick’s Parade and concert in Trafalgar Square. St Patrick’s Day is the perfect opportunity to celebrate the enduring strength of the relationship between the British and Irish. When it comes to partying, the Irish are professionals. They are so excellent that they even have a distinct, untranslatable phrase to characterize their particular kind of merriment: the craic. An exciting time is almost certainly guaranteed during London’s official celebration of its patron saint, which will take place in Trafalgar Square. In order to see the ornate floats, marching bands, sports teams, and Irish dancing schools from around the UK, Ireland, and the USA, 50,000 people typically line the 1.5-mile road down to Trafalgar Square. Worldwide celebrations of St. Patrick’s Day include a sizable parade every March, and London hosts one of the best. More than 125,000 people attend the London St. Patrick’s Day Festival, which includes a stunning Parade, a sizable festival in Trafalgar Square, and a ton (and we mean TON) of food and drink options. It has developed into a must- attend festival that highlights the best Irish cuisine, music, dance, and culture. The festivities for this year take place on Sunday, March 12, with the large parade beginning at noon. The London St. Patrick’s Day Parade moves via Piccadilly, St. James’s Street, Pall Mall, Cockspur Street, and Whitehall after beginning at Hyde Park Corner. At the conclusion of the parade route at Trafalgar Square, there are celebrations all day that are sponsored by the London Irish Center. In addition to storytelling, face painting, and kid- friendly movies, Irish dancing, spoken poetry, live music, and film screenings are frequently offered. L
