August 2024 TPT Member Magazine

A NOTE FROM SYLVIA August is one of my favorite months, not only because of the beautiful late summer weather, but also because it marks the return of the Minnesota State Fair, which is truly a feast for the senses. TPT’s booth is at the corner of Underwood and Lee, and we will offer a slew of fun activities and games for children, as well as meet & greets with Daniel Tiger and the team behind "Almanac." Stay updated with all of our “Great Minnesota Get-Together" plans on TPT.org/events. We can't wait to see you there! August also marks the beginning of our late summer pledge drive, an essential time for us to engage with both new and loyal members. This year, we are featuring "The Best of the Joy of Painting: Special Edition," where the iconic and soft-spoken Bob Ross completes his beautiful "Home in the Valley" painting and offers a glimpse into his painting techniques. Another must-see is "Great Performances: Rodgers & Hammerstein's 80th Anniversary: My Favorite Things." This star-studded concert features Aaron Tveitt, Patrick Wilson, and more, performing from the impressive repertoire of these musical theater pioneers. In addition to these shows, we are thrilled to premiere "Paul Hollywood Goes to Hollywood." The famed judge from "The Great British Baking Show" hits the road on a custom Harley Davidson to explore food and film along a 3,000-mile road trip from New York to Los Angeles, dishing with celebrity friends along the way. It’s a culinary adventure you won’t want to miss! As the back-to-school season approaches, it always brings a sense of nostalgia. In this issue of the magazine, we feature an interview with Kristin Pedersen, our VP of Lifelong Learning, who shares her exciting vision for amplifying TPT's long tradition of quality educational programming for people of all ages. Her commitment to bringing our vibrant local storytelling to life beyond the screen is truly inspiring. None of these amazing programs and initiatives are possible without your generous support. Thank you for being a part of our community and for your unwavering commitment to TPT. Here’s to a wonderful August filled with fun, music, and learning.
