entrees served with a beverage and dessert. Location: Beachwood Community Center

The role that African-American women played in the history of jazz has, from its inception, often been omitted from the larger narrative. Black women fought harsh stereotypes levied against their gender, race, musical abilities, and basic rights to perform. Debbie Darling and David Strieter will introduce you to three iconic jazz vocal mavens who broke through barriers to pave the way for some of our favorite artists of today. Through this musical introspective on the lives of Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, and Lena Horne, you will get a glimpse into the lives of three amazing women who forever changed the face of jazz. Meal choices include Cajun chix with pasta or tuna fish salad on a hoagie roll served with a cup of tomato soup. All entrees served with a beverage and dessert. Location: Beachwood Community Center
