Pickleball Takes Off In Beachwood With New Courts! The Beachwood Pickleball Courts celebrated their grand opening and ribbon cutting on Wednesday, October 4, with an enthusiastic crowd ready to hit the courts. The event was highlighted by a ceremony and ribbon cutting with Mayor Berns and all seven city council members plus pickleball-themed giveaways, a target game for all ages and a demo match with Professional Pickleball Registry certified pro and instructor, Bill Tennant. Special thanks to Rosemary Nemeth who helped organize the remaining courts for open play. The six pickleball courts are part of the recreation area project that also includes the permanent home for the community gardens, fence repairs at the existing tennis courts and two new sand volleyball courts. Courts will remain open on a first-come, first- served basis throughout the off-season. Nets will stay up year-round in anticipation of Northeast Ohio’s occasional winter warm-ups! The area promises to be a hub of activity for many years to come. Fall pickleball lessons sold out in short order. Look for an expanded offering of clinic and lesson opportunities in the spring/summer recreation guide. For more information, visit BeachwoodRec.com.
