Beautiful Beginning Chess Instructor: Progress with Chess Beautiful Beginning is a great way to nurture your child’s interest in the game of chess. We offer a supportive small group setting. Students will learn the moves of the pieces, the rules and be able to play a legal game of chess. Instruction provided by Progress with Chess, a local non-profit organization

Instruction will be provided by Progress with Chess, a local non-profit organization that conducts chess programs in over 50 Cleveland area schools and recreation centers. Many studies have demonstrated that chess improves cognitive and decision-making skills. Beginning students will master the rules and moves of the pieces. More experienced players will learn strategy, tactics, and checkmate patterns. Sessions will include interactive lessons and problem solving exercises, with ample time for supervised open play. Fantastic Foundation Chess Instructor: Progress with Chess

Jan. 18 - Mar. 21 Thurs. 2:50-3:50 PM $140/$168

Fantastic Foundation includes students who already know the basic rules but have little or no tournament experience. Students will learn tactics, strategies and checkmate patterns, how to record moves and use a chess clock. Classmates will play training games under tournament conditions and receive the necessary skills to enter competitive play with confidence.

Winter Break Chess Camp Instructor: Progress with Chess

Everyone is welcome, from beginner to expert! Students will be placed in small groups according to age and skill level and engage in interactive lessons and problem solving. Ample time will be allotted for structured open play, with the option for experienced players to compete in a USCF rated tournament if desired. Chess sets and written curriculum are provided. The Business of Babysitting Instructor: Jessica Zuik, RN

The Business of Babysitting is an engaging course designed to help your child feel confident and safe while babysitting, all while introducing them to the world of business and entrepreneurship. The three-hour class will help your child learn to think like a babysitter, build a babysitting business, understand the stages of child development and learn first aid and CPR. Each child leaves with a completion certificate, their workbook, a first aid kit, and an American Heart Association CPR completion card.
