Excellent Events announces plans for a celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday to include parades, arts, music, dance, an- tiques, crafts and, of course, great food. Continuing tradition, VankleekHill Village will provide the setting for Our Canadian Heritage Festival, honouring Canadian culture, Sunday, May 21, 2017. A full schedule of events includes a child- ren’s parade and a display of antique trac- tors, as well as a creative hat competition and a butter tart competition. Crafts, antiques, interactive skills kiosques, and food booths will line the streets. Music and dance per- formances will take place on centre stage. Three fine art exhibitions will be open, as well as many businesses in town, including the Vankleek Hill Museum. “We are excited to invite everyone to

come out and have a party in the streets,” said Samme Putzel, Excellent Events producer. “Suzanne Hocquard and I are putting plans together to appeal to all ages and interests. Something for everyone...that’s what will bring out the smiles with the flowers this spring.” In the memory of the May Show Festi- val, organizers are planning a ceremony to honour Phil Arber and Fred Torak, both deceased in the past year, who played a large part in bringing the community together in celebration of Canada’s rich heritage. Presented by Excellent Events, the festival is supported by the Community Fund for Canada’s 150th, a collaborative initiative between Canada’s Community Foundations, the Government of Canada and the Rotary Club of Hawkesbury.
