Sisterhood We know local chapters are excited to share the good news of our projects and the positive impact they have on the lives of our recipients. However, we must be mindful of the rights to privacy for our recipients, particularly those of our needs-based projects (the P.E.O. Educational Loan Fund, the P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship Fund and the P.E.O. Program for Continuing Education). Although we want to highlight all of our projects, there are legalities and issues of privacy and safety that have prompted the following updates. New Local Chapter Publicity Guidelines
LOCAL CHAPTER PUBLICITY PERTAINING TO INTERNATIONAL CHAPTER PROJECT RECIPIENTS: Press Releases, Websites and Social Media Posts
Local chapters sponsoring applicants for our projects take special pride in assisting and encouraging them to pursue their educational goals. Chapters like to publicize their support and also recognize their student’s accomplishments. There are, however, guidelines that must be followed. Unless the local chapter receives a signed copy of the publicity consent form, no personal identifying information for a recipient can be shared with news media or on P.E.O. websites or social media accounts (including websites and social media accounts for International, state/provincial/district and local chapters). Find the publicity consent form on the P.E.O. International member website at https://members.peointernational.org/consentform . For our needs-based projects (the P.E.O. Educational Loan Fund, the P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship Fund and the P.E.O. Program for Continuing Education), the amounts awarded to our recipients should never be shared with news media or on websites or social media. We will continue to celebrate the impact of our educational projects while we prioritize the privacy of our recipients.
