For a number of years, sisters of Chapter BT, Missoula, Montana, met in the summer months at the local mall
walks in the woods, pleasantries on the patio. In the summer of 2021 some of these groups were reshuffled to broaden perspectives, but they remained actively engaged. The small groups proved to be such a winner that they have continued beyond the summers. Thus they have created

a greater intimacy that strengthens the chapter and provides an easy avenue for simplifying communication. The chapter is delighted the small groups have been a win/win in many respects, and is planning for them to continue in the foreseeable future.

auction that followed the golfing. Each golfer was given a goodie bag containing lip balm, hand-sanitizer, golf essentials and snacks. Each bag also contained two raffle tickets and the golfers purchased many more for the raffle drawing for coveted salon services, gift cards for fine dining restaurants, jewelry and other handcrafted items that had been donated. In addition, a quilt made by a chapter sister, an oil painting and a cocktail party and art tour at one sister’s home highlighted an array of items whose silent bids in the auction raised over $4,000. Starting with a goal to raise $10,000 when planning began, the chapter is pleased and proud to find that they raised a total of $23,500 for P.E.O. projects after deducting expenses. Indeed, this “took a village.” All Chapter FF sisters who were physically able and in Tucson during the summer took part in planning and organizing the event, on Zoom and later, in person. They were joined by “snowbirds” who returned and helped with many tasks on the day of the tournament itself. The joy of the event’s financial success is only tantamount to the fun and teamwork the entire chapter experienced in making it happen.

During the summer, sisters secured over 40 local sponsors to fund the luncheon as well as a full continental breakfast for the golfers and prizes for the winning teams. Nobody scored a hole-in-one, so the golf cart that a local distributor had offered went unclaimed, but gift cards, gift certificates for golf and themed baskets were among the items awarded at the luncheon for the lowest scores, for birdies, eagles and longest drives. Consolation prizes were given to those who hit their drives into the pond! Sponsors’ logos were exhibited on a large banner and on signs at each tee block, and sponsors received handmade thank-you cards after the event from the sisters who had secured each sponsor. Other local vendors and some chapter members donated services and products for a raffle and a silent
On a warm, calm Saturday morning in November, Chapter FF, Tucson, Arizona, held a golf tournament fundraiser at a Tucson municipal golf course entitled “Shooting for the Stars.” The inspiration for the event began with Chapter FF sister Sandra Murray—a golfer herself—who believed a golf tournament could be a successful and enjoyable vehicle to raise funds for P.E.O. projects.
