ENGAGE YOUR LOCAL COMMUNITY IN YOUR COVER DESIGN Why not use your catalogue to demonstrate your engagement with your local community by running a competition to design your catalogue cover? Contact local schools and colleges with a brief to draw/design a cover that they feel reflects the area you live in. This will provide you with a huge PR story, positive local awareness and an excellent talking point when delivering catalogues into customers. The deadline for providing artwork for your catalogue is Friday 18th October. This gives you plenty of time to organise a competition. ALTERNATIVELY... A FELLOW MEMBER HAS SUGGESTED THE BELOW:

FAQS - YOUR CATALOGUE QUESTIONS ANSWERED
Are catalogues still relevant? Definitely. Their role has changed, but putting a comprehensive multi-category book in front of a customer instantly demonstrates the breadth of your offering. Customers may not use it as a main ordering tool anymore, but do not under-estimate the relevance of the catalogues as an advertising point of reference. Are all the products available from my preferred wholesaler? No. There is no longer consistency in wholesaler listings. The purpose of the catalogue is to demonstrate your diverse offering at a glance. If you cannot get the exact product from your preferred choice, you will be able to switch the enquiry to a similar product: “Sorry, I don’t have that exact product in stock, but I can supply you…” Never turn an enquiry away. Why are unique codes used? The codes put you in control and make undercutting from competitors more difficult. The unique code gives you the option to purchase from your preferred source and switch throughout the life of the catalogue if needed. It also means competitors cannot easily offer exactly the same product at a lower cost. How is the catalogue priced? You can choose to either have your catalogue retail priced (and offer blanket discounts) or choose a nett price version that offers a more realistic ‘street price’ (a much better guide price). Alternatively you can choose to have your catalogue unpriced – this works well if you are loading the catalogue file onto your webstore and can refer catalogue users to there for your latest pricing. Can I have my own front cover design?

The cover choice designs enable you to personalise your front cover making use of the black overprint area - basically any of the areas in black on the covers shown can be personalised with your logo, contact details and you can even change the name of the catalogue if you prefer. Alternatively, if you want a completely unique cover, you can do this, but there is an extra charge because the published catalogue cost prices are based on a black overprint on a standard cover only. What is the purpose of your own unique magazine? Growing sales is about providing solutions and demonstrating how your diverse offering provides solutions for the workplace. Highlights does this for you, creating a feeling of “I need that” and “that is me” amongst readers, opening the door for you to sell more products to meet these needs. What is it called? It is completely unique to you - name the magazine yourself so that it reflects your business locally. A great opportunity to be creative and personalise the magazine - talk to us about your cover name and overprint options. Why are Style products always on the inside front and inside back cover? Simple. The pricing of these form part of your cover overprint and can be priced however you choose. Each quarter you will receive an order form to choose your pricing or set your own. Why are there no other priced products in Highlights? Setting a ‘one size fits all’ price in a quarterly publication does not work for everyone. The publication will feature added value promotions and relevant products, but unpriced, enabling you and your sales team to follow-up with pricing that suits your market. We still provide a product file of featured products with suggested pricing that can be used on webstores and will feature on the Affinity email marketing portal throughout the period.
