THE KING’ S BUSINESS
all our friends to pray especially for Taai- Lei. I am praying that you may all have the present joy of service that insures future happiness beyond all reckoning. Do pray much for us. I long for the infilling o f the Spirit o f love and power (2 Thess. 3:1-2, 5). Kuku Fujita in Japan The following letter, written to the Fish ermen’s Club by Kuku Fujita, who grad uated from the Bible Institute o f Los Angeles last fall and went immediately to his field o f labor, is given in its unique originality, in the belief that it will be. more fully appreciated By. the reader than in a censored form. G osen , I chigo , J apan . February 14 , iqi 6. M y D ear - F isher man :— I am glad to report a good news this time—I am sure that as long as Lord with us, our report shall be the record o f activé work o f Jesus Christ Himself, and at same time it shall be the record o f the work of Fisher-man club in Japan. W e organized with 16 new members, and, first Sunday o f March 10 new converts going to baptize and they shall be otlr member after that. These every new con verts fighting hard against the old faith in their family—one o f our young girl did not allow to eat for five days on account o f she become a Christian, and last week in our prayer meeting she said “Yes I was hungry, but I was much hungry for Jesus Christ, Jesus Himself was fasted forty days and nights to meet the temptation, but I only five days” this kind testimony makes my soul good, she going to baptize that time and her' mamma is coming to church lately. Now we are going to build up the new church, We bought two lots already. The location is just fine, it is center o f town. The church building for Gosen is a miracle. For about 30 years the Christian worker tried to preach there, but the people o f town did their best efforts to defence the Christian influence, indeed Gosen seemed
attacked the stores o f the newly-converted gentry, robbing them o f all their stock o f grain and driigs, about $500 worth being taken. You cannot realize what a testing this was for these newly-converted Chinese merchants. Their first impulse would nat urally be to at once bring charges and turn loose their hatred on the robbers. The lat ter, by the way, live in a nearby village and are well known. You cannot well imagine such a condition o f affairs as exists in China that can permit a village to rise up and pillage its neighbor with impunity. W e at once had prayer with the afflicted gentry and urged them to look to God for grace to love these newly-arisen enemies. Five days have passed. An elder and a preacher went to the robber village and explained the Gospel (fo r it was the fear o f the consequences o f Christianity that led them to attack the Christian village), but the robbers reviled them and drove them away. Still our Christians have done nothing in revenge. Last night two o f these gentry arrived in Ko-Chow, and I had them together with our elders and deacons for Bible study and prayer.. W e read Matt. 5 :9-12 and 38-48, and explained the way Christ taught us to bear afflictions, I also told them that this business was all o f the devil to inter fere with the conversion^ o f those scores and others in nearby villages who would be reached for Christ. I urged that we should not slacken our zeal or efforts in spreading the Gospel. Then we prayed with' one heart for grace, wisdom, and power. I feel very strongly led to return with them to Taai-Lei, and let' God use me there as He can. I shall take with me our head colporteur, whom I love and trust. W e are determined not to be lacking at this time when God is moving. W e are praying not only for the 180 but for hundreds more in surrounding villages; yes, for the robbers themselves, standing firm on the teaching o f Christ; to love those who persecute us and to seek first His Kingdom. He will glorify His name. I wish you would ask
