THE KING’S BUSINESS
main only a moment and stopped at the door only, but as I turned to leave her again the Spirit- spoke to my heart and I asked whether she were a Christian or not. It was a new class and I was not sure of her standing. Instantly the door swung open and she said, “ No, I am not; come in and let’s talk about it.” I needed no second invitation, and she told me in thei simplest way that while her life had always been what is called a “good life,” there was something lacking, and she thought' it must be this. I showed her the way of salvation,- and as we knelt together she very simply and sweetly received the Lord. And how she did g row ! In a few weeks the whole family expect to make public con fession o f their faith in the Lord Jesus, for the little son has been saved arid the two daughters were already Christians, only lacking the encouragement to stand for Christ. The husband, a backslidden Christian, said, to his wife when she con fessed Christ to him, “I think now it will be a help to me to come back to the Lord.” So that there will be a united family in Christ Jesus.—L. C. A certain woman, for long years a church member, had been led, through ignoraijce o f the Word, to attend meetings o f Spiritualists and to accept their teach ings. God used the Bible woman to show His condemnation o f this evil way, and kneeling in shame and contrition, the woman prayed for forgiveness for her failure to study and know God’s will through His written Word. As she prayed for herself she became burdened for her
unsaved husband, and prayed that he might be saved. That very night in a little near-by mission, her prayer was answered, and her husband received Christ as Saviour and Lord.—E. M. There came to our class on the day o f its first meeting a busy little woman with her three babies. How desirous she was to know the teaching o f the Bible! With one or other o f the children demanding care almost every moment, she yet held herself with eager attention to the words o f the teacher, begging at -frequent intervals for the privilege o f asking questions. For a year she had been listening to the testi monies o f a Christian Science neighbor, and had secured a copy o f Mrs. Eddy’s “ Key,” hoping she might be able through reading it to find the truth. At the fourth meeting o f the class she declared her faith in God’s W ord as absolute truth, and in Christ as her own and only Saviour. God is now using her home as a meeting place for women for the purpose o f Bible study and prayer.—E. M. A Bible woman’s life is not all roses. This week has been a discouraging one as to house-to-house' visitation. Christian Science, Russellism, Catholicism, and utter indifference have gripped the district visited this week, and I have found Satan actively working in the lives o f these women. It is hard to see them cling to these false doctrines—hungry, but not willing to accept the Bread o f L ife; thirsty, but refusing the Living Water. How we need prayer!—W.
