Find Sports at www.TheSportsLedger.com Vintage Market Days “Pile on the Merry" A special holiday shopping experience, featuring some of the best vendors from Alabama, as well as artisans and makers from nearly 20 other states, will be available at the end of October for shoppers to get a jump start on their Christmas shopping. Vintage Market Days “Pile on the Merry”, an upscale vintage-inspired market featuring original art, antiques, clothing, jewelry, handmade treasures, home décor and more, will host its holiday market Oct. 29-31, 2021, at the Morgan County Celebration Arena in Decatur. Vintage Market Days of North Alabama is a juried event who accept vendors based on variety, originality and quality of goods sold. An estimated 70 hand-selected artisans and pickers will bring truckloads of vintage, one- of-a-kind antiques, repurposed, unique holiday items, original art, consumable yummies, seasonal plantings, handmade goods and more, turning the three-day event in Decatur into a shopping experience like no other. Along with shopping for items on your Christmas list, shoppers will be entertained with music by the Rachel Wilson Band during the three-day event and several food trucks will be on hand to please a variety of palates. Santa Claus is also expected to make a visit Saturday, Oct. 30 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. “With Vintage Market Days holiday-inspired event Pile on the Merry, guests can come here to get inspired by some pretty creative vendors,” said Event Coordinator Kim Denard. “I like to think the three day event is more of an experience and kind of an escape from the stress of today’s world. The market is held indoors so weather will not be a factor and guests can shop, return and repeat. A ticket is good for free re-entry once redeemed. Vendors restock daily and you’ll notice items you didn’t see before. For free re-entry, take a selfie at our theme wall. The picture on your phone is your ticket the rest of the event once you redeem your original ticket.” Hours and admission tickets are: Friday, Oct. 29 General admission (3-day pass) 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. / $10 Saturday, Oct. 30 General admission (Good for re-entry on Sunday) 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. / $10 Sunday, Oct. 31 General admission 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. / $5 Admission for children under 12 is free. Cash and credit card are accepted at the gate. A percentage of ticket and merchandise sales goes to Designs for Hope The Morgan County Celebration Arena is located at 67 Horse Center Road (off Highway 67 East) in Decatur. Snead State Jazz Band The Music Department at Snead State Community College will have live musical performances this fall. The college's Jazz Band will provide music during Snead State’s Founder’s Day on Thursday, Oct. 21. The band will perform at the gazebo behind the Administration Building on the Boaz campus from 5-7 p.m. On Saturday, October 16, Deborah Loach, Head of Percussion Studies at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, will perform a special Percussion Recital at 3 p.m. in Fielder Auditorium.

Albertville Cheerleaders The Albertville cheerleaders took time for a picture during the Aggies football game against Huntsville on Thursday, September 30. The Aggies ended up falling to Huntsville 56-21. Reeves Honored for 25 Years of Service at NACC
Sigma Kappa Delta (SKD), a national English Honor Society for two-year colleges, has recognized Joan Reeves for outstanding chapter advisor service. Ms. Reeves, a dedicated and integral faculty member at Northeast Alabama Community College (NACC), has served as the Epsilon Alpha Chapter’s sponsor for 25 consecutive years. In 1986, Reeves was hired as a part-time employee at NACC and became a full-time member of the faculty in 1990. She continues to serve the college as the Division Director of English and Fine Arts. She is also the Director of Student Activities at Northeast. When Reeves began her career at NACC, she set out to achieve two specific goals. She wished to begin an English honor society on campus and to begin a literary magazine at the college. Reeves’s goal of establishing a literary magazine at NACC was met swiftly. First published in 2001, Aurora is NACC’s art and literary magazine.
