A Shåed Joüney : Mentøing Youth, Shaping Futües

A s one of our 2024/2025 Youth Service Goals, the Rotary Club of Upper Kololo set out to embark on a mentorship journey where in everything, every member of the Rotaract Club of Upper Kololo would be paired up with a Rotarian in the Rotary Club of Upper Kololo. The RAC UK mentees were paired with RC UK Rotarians in similar academic and professions. It’s been an interesting journey so far. A journey we shall repeat in the years to come as we reap from the seeds we have sown in our Rotaractors. Brief interview on our youth mentorship journey: Mama UK (Rtn. Christine): Hi Cedric, I wanted to ask about the mentorship program between the Rotary Club of Upper Kololo and the Rotaract Club of Upper Kololo. How has it been? What feedback have you gotten from the mentor-mentee pairing? CP Cedric: Thank you, Mama UK! It’s been truly amazing. The mentorship program has been a huge success. Rotaractors and Rotarians have connected really well. The relationships have grown beyond just meetings at fellowships. Mentors

and mentees are meeting outside of the usual fellowship times, having deep conversations, and setting targets for their growth. The mentors really go the extra mile to guide their mentees, and I’m so glad to hear that! And how do the Rotaractors feel about the experience? Are they finding value in the mentorship program? CP Cedric: Absolutely! The Rotaractors are really appreciating the guidance and support. Many have found the mentorship to it’s been inspiring to watch. Mama UK (Rtn. Christine):

That’s truly inspiring. It seems like the program is really nurturing growth and providing real opportunities. Is there anything you feel could be done better, or any challenges you’ve come across? CP Cedric: Honestly, it’s been a smooth process overall. But, I do believe we could have even more Rotarians actively participating. The mentorship goes beyond just the one-on-one relationship. It’s a space where Rotaractors gain the opportunity to admire the Rotary values, and the guidance they get fosters a great future for our Rotary Club of Upper Kololo. The more Rotarians involved, the stronger the bond and the wider the impact we can make. It’s about building a legacy, not just for the current members, but for future generations as well because the rotaractors today are Rotarians tomorrow and how sweet would it be if they’re Rotarians of Upper Kololo. Mama UK (Rtn. Christine): I agree. It’s not just about the immediate impact, but the long-term future of the club. I’m excited to see where this mentorship program goes and how it continues to shape the growth of our members. Thank you. CP Cedric: Thank you, Mama UK! We’re super grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow from our Rotarians.

be a great source of motivation, not just in their Rotary journeys but also in their personal lives and professional growth. For example, Rtn. Kengoma has helped her mentee, Rtr. Isma Waswa, start and register a business. It’s amazing to see these tangible impacts. The mentorship isn’t just about advice— it’s about creating opportunities and empowering the next generation of leaders. Mama UK (Rtn. Christine):
