Brewer Science Proposal

Brewer Science Innovation Leadership Program Designed to engage and empower students in biological science, physics, chemistry, material science, computer science, environmental science and engineering disciplines, the Brewer Science Innovation Leadership Program aims to provide students with further comprehensive and interdisci- plinary education that prepares them to excel in their chosen fields while also equipping them with essential leadership skills. We will engage up to 50 students in the program the first year with a plan to increase the size in years two and three for even greater reach. A faculty leader, possible laboratory work, research projects and/or field involvement will enhance students’ hands-on experiences as well as set Brewer Science apart in its quest for research and innovation. • Research Building Integration: The program will ultimately find its home imbedded in UNT’s new SciTech research building, fostering collaboration and innovation. • Brewer Scholars: Upon program admission and completion, sophomores and juniors can apply to become Brewer Scholars, receiving financial support for their continued education and creating a substantial pipeline of talent for Brewer Science and other science and technology- driven companies. Program Components • Corporate Mentoring: Brewer Science and additional science and technology companies will serve a vital role in the program. Corporate mentors will guide and support students, providing valuable insights into industry expectations and real-world applications. • Visiting Lecturers: Renowned experts from a variety of fields will be invited to deliver lectures, enriching students’ knowledge and broadening their perspectives. • Experiential Learning: The program will emphasize practical learning through possible laboratory work, research projects and/or field experiences. This cross-functional experiential learning component not only enhances students’ experiences but also sets Brewer Science apart in its quest for research and innovation. • Cross Training and Team Projects: Students will work on interdisciplinary teams to address real-world issues, promoting collaboration, communication and problem-solving skills.
