College – Issue 30

THE DEVELOPMENT OFFICE A New Era Dawns

After signalling in last year’s report that the College was undertaking a master planning exercise to take the College into the future, the Development Office has continued to prepare for this exciting project by intensifying its communications programme and continuing to work closely with Old Boys, past parents, friends, and supporters.

Modern independent schools today can no longer only rely on the traditional financial tools to provide the leadership, facility and educational opportunities for a world where the acquisition of knowledge and learning is changing at a rapid and challenging rate. Increasingly, learning institutions around the world are embracing philanthropy to a greater degree. This allows authentic partnerships to provide and contribute to meeting those new challenges in a way that delivers state-of-the- art new facilities, stimulating and innovative new curriculum choices, and, most importantly, learning and leadership opportunities that deliver the students fully equipped for the modern world.

College’s Development Office role is becoming increasingly involved in this area of the school and, the first concepts of the new facilities are currently being drawn up. The team has increased in number with the addition of Peter Davidson who comes with a marketing, business development, and investment banking background. Peter joins Shelley Keach and Lauren Smith bringing the team to four. We continue to be heartened by the level of support for the Annual Appeal and other gifts. This clearly fits into the authentic partnership category mentioned above as a way of delivering a meaningful difference outside of school fees and on a regular basis. At this point, we thank and note all donors who have contributed since our last

report for the period up until 31 December 2015.

Similarly there has been a heightened interest in leaving a bequest to the College and should you consider this as a more relevant recognition of your lifetime association, then the Development Team is able to guide you through this process.

- Ric Fletcher Director of Development

It is indeed a new era.
