Golf - OAY Johnston Salver

A solid number of Old Boys enjoyed the spectacular weather at the Shirley Golf course for the annual CCOBA golf day. A welcome addition to the format was a BBQ before tee off, sponsored by Pak’n’Save Wainoni; Moa Brewing supplied refreshments on the course and this years prizes were courtesy of Murray & Co. Congratulations to Keith Shipston (9236) for taking away the salver, and to Hugh Robinson (9883), Angus Macfarlane (9725), Tim Cameron (9807) and Simon Batchelor (9793) for winning the Ambrose Competition. We look forward to continuing the enhanced format next year and welcoming more Old Boys along. It caters to all golfing levels.

Hockey - Nick Speight Shield

With key younger players unavailable this year due to nationals in Auckland, some of the older guard were decidedly nervous about the prospect of playing a full 70 minutes. By contrast, the full 16 man College 1st XI squad was able to take to the field. What followed was an impressive first half from College to lead 7 nil at half time. The Old Boys played positively, but lacked the shooting precision of previous years. After the break, College showed even

better passing skills but fortunately the Old Boys were able to make up some ground, including a hat trick to Luke Cracroft-Wilson (13973). Sadly they couldn’t quite recover from the first half deficit. It was just left to Mike Percasky (10616) to invite the Old Boys for a few drinks and pizza at Winnie Bagoes. The final score line of 11-5 was never discussed again.
