ADAPT Floor Graphics

Application Guidelines

Pre-Installation Assessment •To get the best performance from your floor graphics, it is essential that you assess all surfaces prior to applying your graphics to them. •Graphics must be applied to clean floors in a good condition. Generally floor graphics are applied to ceramic/commercial tiles, sealed wood, and sealed concrete. The floor should be sealed and sufficiently smooth. •The floor coating (wax, varnish, paint, etc.) must be firmly attached to subfloor. Floor coatings that do not have a sufficient bond to the subfloor may start to separate from the subfloor, subsequently causing the floor graphic to lift and fail prematurely. This could also result in damage to the floor during the removal stage. •Waxed surfaces containing silicone should be avoided. •Uneven surfaces will result in premature wearing of the graphic and should also be avoided. •Due to the variability of floor paints and coatings, we recommend applying a trail piece of the floor graphic substrate to the floor, prior to full installation, to satisfy yourself the coating is sound. Note that the trial pieces you put down could damage the surface/ paint or leave residue behind after removal, so it’s recommended that you apply this to a more discreet area on the floor. •The floor must be cleaned with suitable cleaning products, and allowed sufficient time to dry, prior to installation. Printing & Artwork •Generally floor graphic media is certified for use with solvent, eco-solvent, UV curable and latex digital printers. It is always worth double checking this prior to printing though. •We would always recommend using the correct ICC profile and heater settings for your printer & print media combination. If the correct ICC profile isn’t available, find an ICC profile for a media type closest to matching the properties of the media type you are using. Excessive ink can affect the dimensional stability of the media. Allow the print media to reach room temperature prior to loading it on to the printer. Prints must be outgassed/cured in accordance to the guidelines specified by your ink/printer manufacturer. Failure to follow this may result in the media lifting at the edges and delaminating from the floor. For solvent/eco solvent prints, we recommend 24-48 hours, depending on ink cover age.
