WW1 REMEMBRANCE Anzac Day service

At the annual Anzac Day service, Headmaster Simon Leese reminded boys of the elusiveness of peace in the modern world.

In a moving sermon, he spoke to the boys of the sacrifice made by the 151 Old Boys and teachers who died at Gallipoli 100 years ago, in the hope that this sacrifice would bring peace for others. It was seen as “the war to end all wars”.

The service was conducted by Bishop David Coles, who was standing in for Chaplain Bosco Peters while he was on sabbatical leave. The service ended with wreaths being laid under the names of those who died as a result of WW1. These were laid by the Headmaster, Head Prefect Lachlan Stark and President of

the Christ's College Old Boys' Association, Mr Ben Walker. At the end of the service, student and staff resumed the tradition of removing their poppy and putting it on the lintel under the memorial to those who fell in WW2.
