MAADI CUP 2015 A good medal haul at this year’s Maadi Cup
College crews pick up a Gold, Silver and Bronze medal at the Maadi Cup Rowing Regatta from eight A finals and four B finals.
The U17 Eight crew of Cameron Smith, Monty Elworthy, Oscar Acland, Tom Darry, Rowan Taylor, Angus Gray, Luke Austin, Oliver Tyler and Daniel Harnett (cox) who won Gold at the Maadi Cup Regatta were in commanding form, leading from the start.
The weather could not dampen the excitement created by one of the closest Maadi Cup finishes. The College Under 18 eight was denied by Hamilton Boys’ High School by less than half a second having led for half the race. The crew knew they had done everything
they could, and acknowledged the victors generously; it could have gone either way in the final strokes. The team picked up a Silver medal. The Under 18 coxed four picked up a Bronze medal.
