Permanent & Semi- Permanent Variable Message Signs Permanent and Semi-Permanent LED VMS (Variable Message Signs) installed on highways, urban arterial roads, managed lanes and facility entrances feature large character heights and graphics for legibility in moderate to fast moving traffic. Content can be displayed in a full, line or character-based matrix depending on the specific application. VMS range from relatively small canopy signs for airports, parking lots, convention centres, fair grounds and toll plazas, to immense walk-in signs for highways and freeways. Permanent VMS with walk-in cabinets hang directly over highways for maximum visibility and to eliminate costly lane closures for maintenance. They are designed to provide a safe, open workspace and technicians can quickly and easily run diagnostics and access components. Front and rear access permanent VMS are also available. Semi-permanent VMS utilize the same robust sign and controller as our portables and are a cost-effective alternative to large walk-in enclosures. They come with clamping devices for pole mounting or Z-bars for cantilever mounting. Semi-permanent signs are typically side-of-highway ground-mounted signs. Both Permanent and Semi-Permanent variable message signs inform and navigate motorists safely on a daily basis and are an invaluable communication device for displaying AMBER Alert™ information.
