The Soft Stop is a tangent guard rail end treatment used on the blunt ends of roadside guard rails. This end treatment is the only MASH-compliant product design for a 31-inch guard rail. The MASH rating is safer than the traditional NCHRP350 test rating and will be the future specification for all end treatments. The Soft Stop unit uses a proprietary design that anchors the front of the guard rail and flattens it flat on impact. This is different from traditional end treatments, where the rail is bent and curled into a clear zone behind the guard rail.
