US where, at the Kennedy Space Station, Chapman and industrial designer Brad Knewstubb saw the potential to create mission control for a performance where the audience become crucial players bringing three astronauts back from space. Apollo 13 was performed throughout New Zealand and Australia to large and appreciative audiences and travelled for a two-month season to the United States. Last year crowds packed into the Silo Theatre in Auckland for
his Hudson & Halls Live! Show reprising the iconic 80s television cooking duo. Metro magazine reviewed it enthusiastically “theatre rarely gets much better than this”. The show won a well- deserved Excellence award at the Auckland Theatre Awards. In 2013, Chapman was made an Arts Foundation New Generation Laureate for his work at the cutting edge of New Zealand Theatre. The Foundation states “These artists are the hot shots, the ones to watch, and the ones that have an
X-factor that sets them apart from their peers.” Kip Chapman will assuredly keep his audiences challenged, actively engaged and entertained for many shows to come.
