PARAMEDICINE, Advanced Standing – Bachelor of Science

Advanced Standing is an option for currently certified and practicing paramedics to earn their Bachelor of Science degree. This option is made available only for currently certified paramedics who reside in a state that participates in online instruction with Washington State and who received their education from an accredited institution (CoAEMSP). Program Note: About 97 percent of graduates pass the National Registry exam on the first attempt and a job-placement rate of nearly 100 percent. Total Credits: 105 Part Time: 9-10 quarters (11 credits a quarter) Full Time: 6-7 quarters (16 credits a quarter) Prerequisites: • At least 18 years-old at the beginning of the course • A high school diploma or equivalency with a 2.0 GPA or better (a GPA of 3.0 is strongly preferred) • Accepted to Central Washington University • Current EMT-Basic / Intermediate certification or equivalent documentation active for 1+ years • EMT experience with approximately 200 prehospital 911 calls with an Advanced Life Support EMS agency • Three letters of recommendation from medical professionals (preferably paramedics). • Successful interview by EMS Paramedic Program Selection Committee • Completion of all General Education requirements prior to enrolling into the major (may be satisfied with the appropriate Associates Degree for transfer) • Completion of college level anatomy and physiology series of ten or more credits with a 2.0 GPA or greater • Completion of EMS 440-Medical Mathematics in the Summer Quarter with a minimum of 2.0 GPA • Completion of Medical Terminology in the Summer Quarter with a minimum of 2.0
