TEACHER CERTIFICATION – Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT)

For individuals with a bachelor's degree in any content area outside of education. Upon successful completion of this 5-quarter program, the MAT degree will be awarded. Candidates seeking licensure recommendation have the option to receive a CWU certificate of completion at the end of the 4th quarter and be recommended to the State for their teaching license. Total Credits: 60 MAT; 48 certification only Hybrid Format: Online with quarterly, in-person Saturday seminars Endorsements: * check website for additional information bilingual education* biology chemistry computer science dance earth science English language arts English language learner* health & fitness history library media mathematics middle level humanities middle level math middle level science music: choral & instrumental music: general & instrumental music: general & choral physics reading science* social studies special education* visual arts Admission Requirements: • Official transcripts indicating a Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution. o Foreign transcripts translated/evaluated for U.S. equivalency by an accredited agency • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher in last thirty credits of college course work • Score reports of WEST-B, ACT, or SAT, as appropriate • Score reports of WEST-E or NES tests, as appropriate • Resume • Three letters of recommendation attesting to your aptitude for the education profession • Cover letter attesting to your interest in becoming a teacher • Character and Fitness Form • Application to CWU Graduate School • Application to the Program Complete applications received by the application date will be assured of a review for the next beginning cohort.
