A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 12
After 2 weeks, the Year 12 mock exams have now been completed. I was really pleased with the students’ overall conduct and attendance to this set of exams. Their teachers will start giving them feedback in due course. This experience will help the students immensely in terms of preparation for next year’s final exams. If they have any questions about the exams, they can speak to their teachers, form tutor or myself. Next week the Year 12 students will take part in a number of activities related to post-18 options which I am certain they will find extremely useful. As per the letter already sent home, the week will culminate with an exciting trip to Thorpe Park, which I am sure all Year 12 students will enjoy!
Have a good week and enjoy the Bank Holiday weekend!

BOOK OF THE MONTH
The Island of Missing Trees, Elif Shafak
‘The Island of Missing Trees’ weaves history, memory, and nature into a powerful story of love and loss. Set between war-torn Cyprus and present-day London, it explores the marks conflict leaves on the lives of the characters, with a fig tree entwined through this narrative. Shafak’s storytelling is deeply human, highlighting the pain of displacement and the resilience of identity. This novel is both moving and thought-provoking, poignantly discussing how generational trauma is instilled in our lives today.
