Eight new units will transform Stroud trading estate

Plans has been approved to demolish and transform a dilapidated trading estate off Bath Road in Stroud. The purpose-built development will see the brownfield site turned into eight separate units totalling 33,077 sq feet. Sitting next to the Grade II Listed Lightpill Mill, the new

development will follow a similar shape to the existing building, but it will be narrower, allowing for each unit to have its own parking area and HGV bay. The scheme is part of a wider improvement plan for the estate, which will see vacant and dated buildings replaced with new, modern commercial units. The application emphasised that the proposed scheme will significantly enhance the setting of the listed building, due to the simplified appearance of the units and reduction in the heights of the buildings. The application also said: "The proposal will significantly enhance the employment offer of the site, attracting future investment and businesses to the site with the provision of modern commercial buildings" l
