The Wales Master Builder Awards ceremony is around the corner so head to our website if you haven’t already secured your tickets. I’m excited to welcome members to Cardiff Bay to celebrate the very best of our industry. On the policy front, the Building Safety (Wales) Bill will be introduced this summer, and I’ve been actively involved in a steering group of industry stakeholders to provide guidance and feedback on its content to the Welsh Government. On a scale of one to 10, how optimistic are you about the immediate future of the UK’s construction industry? I’ll go for seven. Please explain your reasoning for your answer above? The sector is grappling with significant challenges that in my view will require more radical solutions than we’ve seen so far. With the housing crisis, skills crisis, and a stream of other crises – it can feel that everything is in turmoil. However, there is also plenty of good practice happening; we just need to improve how we share and replicate it. Builders are remarkably resilient and innovative – problem- solving is in their DNA. Based on your knowledge of your nation or region’s members,

Cast your vote If you aren’t ready or willing to nominate yourself as a candidate for your area board election, you can still help by casting your votes online for your preferred candidates after the nomination process has closed. Simply vote in advance of your region’s AGM using the FMB’s online voting site. Voting is quick and easy and the nomination timetable for members to join their area board will determine when the voting process begins in your region. Full details of the elections will be shared via the website, newsletters and the FMB member app. So keep a look out.
