Sharing your story has the power to change the lives of your classmates. It can echo through generations by simply standing up for our community. Join the Political Action Committee for Students (PACs), participate in Lobby Day to tell your story, and create real change on campus.

Lobby Day is a yearly event in which students from different campuses visit our capitol in Olympia to testify in front of Washington State lawmakers. Last fall, student representatives from colleges and universities across the state met to discuss priorities for Lobby Day. Fifteen campuses settled on 56 proposals to present at their legislative sessions. CWU’s priorities include helping undocumented students, providing basic housing needs, expanding childcare centers, and finalizing a bill allowing students to unionize. LOBBY DAY

MAKE REAL CHANGE

PACs is a student group whose goal is to advocate for change concerning issues in our communities. It

opens the opportunity for students to receive training and speak directly to Washington State legislators. YOUR story and YOUR voice can make an impact simply by using the power of the First Amendment.

PACs is a strong resume builder (especially if the bill gets passed) and can be a place to strengthen character and confidence. There’s no limit to the number of students that can join PACs. The committee meets weekly to discuss lobbying efforts and teach/prepare students on how to lobby.
