LOBBY DAY
CWU students are heading to Olympia for Cats at the Capitol, a completely free, two-day Lobby Day experience that brings Wildcats directly into the heart of the Washington State Capitol. ASCWU Office of Governmental Affairs invites you to join! Students get an inside look at how state government works, hear their peers testify in committee meetings, and engage with legislators as constituents of their district. As a Wildcat, you can share your personal stories, represent the entire student body and voice your support for the ASCWU Legislative Agenda. The overall goal is to make higher education in Washington more affordable, accessible and student-centered at both the state and federal levels. It’s worthy to note that in 2025, Cats at the Capital successfully helped stop the state legislature from cutting the Washington College Grant, protecting critical funding for nearly half of our student population.
Students saw firsthand the real impact of using their voices. Before the trip, all registered participants will be invited to a series of preparation meetings and training sessions designed to help you feel confident and ready to engage at the Capitol. In collaboration with the Washington Student Association, Cats at the Capitol empowers students to step into leadership and make meaningful changes for higher education across Washington. Students can visit wastudent.org for the finalized WSA Legislative Agenda. Watch for updates from ASCWU’s Governmental Affairs. Whether it’s your first time in Olympia or you’ve been involved before, this event offers a opportunities to leave a lasting impact. Your voice matters.
