SYSTEM / SYSTEM PARTS

in-lite outdoor lighting is based on low voltage (12 volts). This makes our lighting safe and easy to install, adapt and expand. Any landscaper or handy consumer can and is allowed to install in-lite lighting.

Every fixture has a specific VA value (i.e. volt-amperes), which is also referred to as the installation value. This is the output wattage required by the transformer for the light to function. You can use the installation value (VA) to easily calculate which transformer you need for your lighting plan. Add up the total VA value of every fixture in your lighting plan. The sum is the total installation value of your lighting plan. The total installation value should be less than 90% of the total output of your transformer. Our 56 watt transformer, for example, can be used for fixtures with no more than 50 volt-amperes. The 108 watt transformer can be used for up to 97 VA. The VA value of our outdoor lights can be found on our website and on the packaging label. Sample calculation of cable length and transformer The image to the right contains an example of a cable plan. In this example, the transformer is installed in the shed. The cable runs from the shed under the gravel through the border and under the gravel again to the last lights in the plant bed and in the steps. This is the maximum cable length we use in the yard. The length of this cable is 27 meters / 89 feet. In other words, we can use the 14/2 cable in this yard because the length is shorter than 40 meters / 131 feet. We have included the following fixtures in the sample yard: 2x WEDGE = 3,20 VA 3x LIV DARK = 7,50 VA 4x HYVE 22 = 0,80 VA 1x MINI SCOPE = 2,00 VA 3x NERO = 14,10 VA 4x SCOPE = 14,80 VA = 42,20 VA This means that the CB-056/M transformer is the perfect choice for this yard. Total

The transformer The transformer controls the lighting using a

lightsensitive sensor. The transformer can be plugged into the power supply and converts the 100-230 volts from the power outlet to 12 volt AC voltage. The in-lite low- voltage cable runs from the transformer to the outdoor space, where it is connected to the lights. The in-lite cable in-lite has two types of cables in its product range, the 14/2 and the 12/2. The numbers indicate the thickness from the copper inside the cable. If the copper on the inside is thicker, you can install fixtures across a longer distance. When installing the cable linearly, the main cable originates from the transformer and branches can be created on this cable if desired. In other words, the end of the main cable is installed separately in the yard and is not finished with cable caps. To determine whether you have exceeded the maximum cable length, calculate the length from the transformer to the end of the cable. The same applies to any branches. Want to learn more about linear installation and maximum cable lengths? Go to in-lite.com/cable . Our current product range includes two transformers: the CB-056 and the CB-081. Both are equivalent in terms of functionalities, only the output limit is different for each. A simple calculation tells you which one you need. It is important that the total installation value of the fixtures in your lighting plan remain under 90% of the total output of your transformer. How do I determine which transformer is the right one for my lighting plan?
