to walk alone with God—Such individ uals will find that all the resources of the Divine Almightiness will be placed at their disposal, and that the resources of Omnipotence must be ex hausted ere their cause can fail for want of help.—F. B. Meyer. “Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these thihgs shall be added unto you” (Matt. 6:33). Some of the maxims of the ungodly are very good when properly inter preted. An example may be found in the maxim, “Take care of number one.” Now who is number one? The ungodly man says “I am number one.” 5. Rule of Conduct W illard M . A ld rich , Th .D ., President 703 N.E. Multnomah St., Portland 12, Ore. Lord, teach us to pray. Lord, teach us to pray. Lord, teach us to pray. Lord, teach us to pray. “Who teacheth like him?” (Job 36:22).

—Andrew Murray.

1. Visible Grace “For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son” (Rom. 8:29). There must be likeness to Christ if we are going to justify our claim to be Christians. We read that when Barnabas reached Antioch he “ saw the grace of God and was glad.” It is a very simple expression. We do not always think of the grace of God as something visible. But Barnabas saw the grace of God, and he saw this in Antioch, in the place where they were first called Christians. —Council Fires. The Welcomed Cross '“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service” (Rom. 12:1). No man can be wholly the Lord’s, unless he is wholly consecrated to the Lord; and no man can know whether he is wholly consecrated, except by tribulation. That is the test. To rejoice in God’s will, when that will imparts nothing but happiness, is easy even for the natural man. But none but the renovated man can rejoice in the divine will when it crosses, his path, disappoints his expectations, and over whelms him with sorrow. . . . He who does not welcome the cross, does not welcome God.—Madame Guyon. “Lord, teach us to pray” (Lk. 11:1). Prayers may be learned, but learn ing to pray is something far deeper. . . . One lesson which should be learned early in the school of Christ is the absolute inability of the one praying. We depend wholly upon out risen Advocate and our Spirit-Inter cessor for the wilbto pray, the subject matter, the spirit, and the answer, , —Eldon W. Koch. Content to Walk With God “I am the Almighty God; walk be fore me, and be thou perfect” (Gen. 17:1). If any will dare venture forth on the path of separation . . . content 2. 4. 3. Learning to Pray
