Les Hawks ont connu une semaine difficile !

Après avoir perdu 3 à 1 contre les Braves de Brockville mardi et 6 à 2 contre les Ottawa Junior Senators le lendemain, les Hawks entendaient rebondir vendredi soir à domicile. Ce qu’ils ont réussi à faire avec une victoire de 6 à 3. Les Hawks ont donné le tempo dès le début de la partie avec un bon échec avant. Malgré cela, les Grads ont marqué en premier, car il y a eu un peu demalentendu chez les joueurs des Hawks et Peter Brooks s’est retrouvé seul. Peu de temps après, un tir par les Hawks a frappé un poteau de but, mais aucun point. Peu importe, Kari Belec a marqué un but en infériorité numérique sur une passe de Nicolas Guillemette alors que Chris Smith était en punition pour interférence. Puis, Simon Besner a augmenté le pointage 2-1 à 14:26, avec un tir de la ligne bleue. Quelques secondes plus tard, les Grads ont refroidi la foule de Hawkesbury avec un but rapide. Au bout de trois minutes et demie dans la deuxième période, les Hawks avaient marqué deux buts de plus.Les Grads ont fait preuve de frustration en troisième période.

Plus tôt dans le match, les Hawks n’ont pu profiter d’un avantage numérique de 5-3, mais ils avaient le jeu bien en main. Il n’y avait donc pas urgence. L’urgence est de gagner autant dematchs que possible avant la fin de la saison, afin de
conserver l’avantage à domicile lorsque les séries éliminatoires commenceront. Ils n’ont pas été aussi chanceux dimanche alors qu’ils ont perdu 6-1 contre les Raiders deNepeans. Ils se sont également inclinés 6 à 3 contre les Colts de Cornwall, le lendemain.
Les Hawks auront quelques jours avant d’affronter les Braves de Brockville, le vendredi 23 février. Sur une note positive, David Jankowski d’être lemeneur de la ligue avec 85 points, dont 38 buts.

Jets are next with 37 points, the Vankleek Hill Cougars with 33, the Morrisburg Lions at 24, the South Grenville Rangers 20, Blackburn Inferno 11, and the Bytown Royals at the bottom with seven points. Their basement-level finishes in the 2017-2018 schedule have eliminated Blackburn and Bytown from the NCJHL playoffs. But the February game schedule for the other four teams ahead of themdid not finish with the Family Day weekend. The NCJHL decided to hold a two-night pre-playoff mini-playoffs this week, put- ting the Rangers against the Jets, and the Lions against the Cougars.. Wednesday night, the Cougars face the Lions once more in Vankleek Hill while the Jets take off from their home ice against the Ran- gers. Results of the pre-playoff mini series will help determine whether or not the Cougars move on to the NCJHL playoffs rounds. St-Isidore and Clarence are both secure in their berths for the playoffs.
It is the last chance for two teams in the National Capital Junior Hockey League to win themselves a chance in the season playoffs series starting inMarch. For two other teams, it is one more chance to show that they have already earned their berth in the playoffs. The regular season for the NCJHL wrapped up over the Family Day week- end. The Papineauville Vikings finished the schedule with a win-loss record of 25-7 and 50 points overall in the overall standings, making them the top club in the junior C hockey league. In second place is Gatineau with 22-11 and 44 points.The NorthDundas Rockets and the Cumberland Bandits are tied for third with 43 points each. Following after are the St-Isidore Eagles and the Clarence Creek Castors, also tied with each other at 41 points.TheMetcalfe

L’équipe féminine junior de ballon-volant de l’École secondaire catholique de Plantagenet est revenue championne de la Classique des Mustangs qui se déroulait à l’école catholique St-Michael de Kemptville. Le tournoi a eu lieu le samedi 10 février. En grande finale, les Panthères l’ont emporté contre leur rivale de la ligue, les Dynamos de l’École secondaire catholique de Casselman, en deux manches de 25-23 et 25-9. —photo fournie
